With this intervention, we have been able to meet various people and give them information about Sexual reproductive Health, HIV/AIDS, STI/Ds prevention and awareness among other health related issues. With this intervention in schools’ visits, we have also been able to counsel students that were affected by COVID – 19 and still have that trauma of what they went through, we have also been able to talk to girls about their menstrual hygiene, and body changes in students in ordinary level. While using this approach we have been to meet over 10,000 students in the universities and schools in Uganda. And we intend to do this activity at National starting with Central Region of Uganda.
This has benefited the students and our organization in a way that we have been able to correct the myths the students in universities had about Family Planning methods. We intend to do this advocacy programs in the entire country though we started with central region to avoid conflict of interest. This approach has enabled us achieve the sustainable development goal number 3 of good health and well – being.
With the empowerment approach we focus more on the adolescents and the youth during this intervention. With the feasibility study we made we found out that most adolescents become victims of HIV/AIDS and teenage pregnancy because of poverty. In this case we our first outreach we conducted in Bulamagi – Sub County in Iganga District in Uganda we found out that over 30 girls became teenage pregnancy victims due to poverty. Where boys would come with 2000/= that’s about $0.53 and make them pregnant because of that money and run away. This was worse that the girls even didn’t know their HIV statuses which would put the life of the fetus in danger.
Here, the initiative started to start equipping these adolescents and the youth with life skills of making chalk, liquid soap, bar soap, bathing soap, reusable sanitary pads among others.
service delivery, we give out services of Family planning but while patterning with Health centers in the communities. We give out the services during outreaches that we make pattern-ship with the health facilities in communities such as health center IIs and health center IIIs. We come together during outreaches in different areas to deliver health services.
